Time won't take the boy out of this man...
It is hard to believe, but today, one of the members of U2 turns 50. Happy birthday, Sparky. I love you. Thank you so much for being such an influence and a safe place for me over the years. You've had my heart for the better part of twenty years, and I don't ever plan on letting that change. You and your mates are a huge part of my life, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Is it June yet!?!? ( Picspam under the cut! ) Current Mood: bouncyCurrent Music: retro rock on MusicChoice |

Cheeseburgers in paradise...sort of.
What is this warm feeling outside? White light? Blue skies? Being able to go out in a t-shirt, jeans, and a hoodie? I am wondering where I am, exactly. ;) Yesterday was Prince Charming's day off, and after much thought all morning, we decided to grab sweatshirts and walk up to Wal-Mart. Our agenda? Produce. Pineapples, to be specific. We had burger thawing out, and were thinking of trying to make our own Hawaiian-style burgers. The walk up was one of the best we've had since moving here...jeans, t-shirts, and sweatshirts were all that was required. Not quite living down south, but still made of good. We purchased that microwavable bacon, green peppers, a white onion, a red (purple) onion, and canned pineapple slices. Also picked up a can of crushed pineapple AND a can of pineapple chunks. We couldn't make up our minds, so we bought all three. Also picked up some fruit for a fruit salad, and chocolate cupcakes in case we wanted dessert. Headed home to begin our experiment, debating which way the pineapple would be best used. Burger patties, seasoned with a blend of spices. Tossed some of the white onion and pepper into a pan, added water, the burgers, and after some thought, some of the juice from the pineapple slices. While we cooked the burgers, we took some of the pineapple slices and put them in a wee pan, with some of the remaining juice and a wee bit of oil. The end result was phenomenal. Burgers loaded down with condiments and topped with a pineapple slice. Mine was lettuce, bacon, and pineapple. Prince Charming added onion and cheese along with my selections. (The boy had a plain cheeseburger, no pineapple.) The burgers were juicy and tender, and since they'd had a bit of pineapple juice added while cooking, they had this burst of pineapple sweetness throughout the meat. It was incredible. Add in a side of fries and that fruit salad? It was an epic meal. Better than 99% of the burgers I've gotten out, and totally worth staying in for. Almost didn't have room for a cupcake after...had to wait a bit before delving into those! After the boy was bathed and put to bed, we topped off the evening off with renting Zombieland from the on demand movies. And yeah, it was awesome. I loved it. Probably going to want the dvd once we actually buy a new dvd player. Oh, and iwouldbegood wins at life for managing to gank that song I wanted from Myspace. *squee* Today is even warmer outside - my weather bug says 62F!!!! - but Prince Charming has to work, so no outdoor excursions today. I'll settle for opening all the windows and rocking out to great music. It's amazing how much happier warmth and sunshine make me. Tech fail.
Hey f-list! Anyone know how to gank a song from a Myspace player when there isn't an option to purchase it? There's this song called "Chains" by Chris Trousdale that I really want. I can't find on my Blubster, and his Myspace Player doesn't have the option to purchase it. :( In other news, the circus was a success, the boy had a blast with my mom & stepdad. My sister's birthday was pleasant...would've been nicer for me if I hadn't gotten a visit from my monthly friend. 4 days late while on my Pill...suffice it to say that I didn't feel well on Saturday and was absolutely knackered by Sunday. Luckily for me, Prince Charming has Sundays off, so he handled the cooking and kept the boy occupied. I laid in my recliner with a blanket and the remote. Felt alright yesterday, nothing of importance to report there. Today is alright so far, about to go to the grocery with my mom. I want that song, dangit. A hazy shade of winter...
Blue skies? A bright light? What is this you speak of? I was not aware Ohio was capable of such things in March. It's been busy around here lately. Not been online much. The boy is going to his first-ever circus tomorrow night. Zing Zang Zoom, courtesy of Ringling. My mom and stepdad are taking him, and keeping him overnight. He's super wound up, too. Prince Charming and I were hoping for a date night, but no-one has picked up his shift and he doesn't have any paid time off, so...yeah. He'll get home around 1am, maybe we'll go walk up to the corner and grab coffee at Denny's or something. Saturday is my sister's 23rd birthday, and her fiance has a little something planned up at the house in Akron for that night. Homemade pizzas, nachos, and veggies, with cake & ice cream. I've gotten her a lil' heart-shaped pin and a new necklace, as she was talking about needing some new accessories. The boy is making her a photo frame (with help), and we're putting a picture of him and the puppy in it. I also picked her up a bag of Cadbury Mini Eggs, as they are one of her favorites and only out around Easter. We're making cookies to take up, sugar cookies drizzled with melted chocolate. My mom is going to have the circus going on, so I'm handling the baking. Today consisted of Prince Charming and I walking up to Wal-mart with the boy in tow, picked up a few of the weekly groceries, as we won't get to the store this weekend due to all the plans. My mom is swinging by early next week after work to take me and the boy up to the grocery so I can finish the shopping. And in other news, I want the Star Wars toys from McDonald's...maybe we can arrange a Happy Meal or two into the budget soon. *geek* Current Mood: busyCurrent Music: 80s channel on Music Choice |
